An unlucky bounce saddled the Toronto Raptors with their worst losing streak in almost five years.

Corey Maggette’s 25-foot jumper with 44.8 seconds in overtime left bounced up off the rim and in for what turned out to be the decisive three-pointer, and the Milwaukee Bucks won 116-110 and sent the Raptors to their 10th straight loss.

Maggette’s winner came after DeMar DeRozan tied the game 110-110 with 1:04 to play in overtime on a driving reverse layup.

The Raptors are on their longest losing streak since dropping 10 in a row March 26-April 12 during the 2005-06 season

“Sometimes you have got to take it and see what happens,” said Maggette who also grabbed 11 rebounds, but committed five turnovers. “Tonight it went down for me.”

The Raptors trailed by 10 in the fourth quarter but tied the game 104-104 when Amir Johnson hit two free throws with 18.3 seconds left in regulation.

“We should never have been in that situation,” Maggette said. “Turnovers starting with myself. I had two careless turnovers around the three- and four-minute mark that put us in the position where they got a little run. We continued to fight, Bogut made some big plays down the stretch and in overtime.”

The Raptors came behind in overtime as well as Andrew Bogut scored the first six points in the extra five minutes for the Bucks.

“They went to him right away,” Raptors head coach Jay Triano said. “We tried to foul him and we didn’t do that. Like a lot of our shots tonight we missed.”

In overtime the Raptors had nothing left and the Bucks put the game away with one free throw by Carlos Delfino and two more from Maggette who finished with 29 points to lead all scorers.

In the final 33.8 seconds, Toronto missed three shots —a 25-foot three-point attempt by Sonny Weems, a layup by Johnson and a 25-foot three-point attempt by Andrea Bargnani.

“We gave it away,” Johnson said. “When Maggette made a three-pointer I think it bounced like three times on the rim. It was a tough shot you know. We just gave the game away.”

Ersan Ilyasova added 25 points for Milwaukee (18-26) before fouling out in the fourth quarter, Bogut scored 24 and Delfino, a former Raptor, scored 15 off the bench.

Johnson led Toronto (13-34) with 24, Bargnani added 23 and Jose Calderon had 13 with 10 assists.

The Raptors had a chance to win in regulation when they took possession with 2.8 seconds left after the ball went out of bounds off Delfino. But Bargnani missed a 19-foot jump shot and the game went into overtime.

“I think Andrea as a seven-footer, if you can get him the basketball, he has the ability to shoot the ball over top of people,” Triano said. “He is arguably our best shooter and I don’t think you have with that much time a chance to put it on the floor too much. He got the ball and I think he got a pretty clean look. It looked pretty good so I wasn’t disappointed with that shot at all.”

Not much else going on in the NBA world today.
